Users are still able to print but the server is reporting an error which triggers windows 7 and windows vista to clear print inform the user that the printer is in "error state" or that there was "an error printing." This information worries users and causes many calls to our help-desk. the printer too soon after it starts (and on some other occasions), I get a message "printing of the document failed". The document remains in the printer queue with an error indication. I remove it, but all subsequent attempts to print anything fail. The only remedy I found was to switch the printer and the computer off and reboot. IS THERE ANY SIMPLER WAY? Also when the job fails are any lights on the printer other than the ready light. Green light steady on the printer.Document appears in printer queue; status: Error-printing.(7) Remove document from printer queue (cancel print).(8) Repeat (5). The same effect.If I send more documents without cleaning the queue, they just hang there. If I remove the first one, the next shows error.It may well be the port/cable issue, as you say.How do I check / fix it? - romanredz 0 First thing would be to remove the cable at both ends and then reinsert and then turn on the computer and printer. If using a usb cable plug the cable into another port on the computer and see if you get new hardware found and does it try to load the printer driver again?
