Hamilton Bill Changer
Hamilton Coin Changer from 1998 that is not working. It has a 9 month old Hamilton XE bill validator. I switched the validator to the other changer and it worked, so I know the problem is something other than the validator. The validator gave an error "1." According to the manual, the troubleshooting involves first checking something that was okay, then checking the harness (I don't know what that is) and then sending for repair. The changer accepts bills and dispenses http://www.autocareforum.com/showthread.php?7448-Hamilton-XE-Validator quarters only. My questions are: 1) What is the harness? 2) I see a Controller piece mounted to the inside wall of the changer. Could that be the issue? If so, how can it be removed? There are no bolt heads showing. 3) Do these machines need to be sent to Hamilton's location in Ohio to be repaired? How do I know what to send to them? Thank you. frank View Public Profile Find all posts by frank #2 05-12-2013, http://www.coinwash.com/mb/showthread.php?p=81697 10:51 AM zoomdrm57 Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Florida Posts: 9 Hamilton bill changer problems 1) the harness is the complete wiring that holds everything together. I have 3 Hamiltons and find that the wiring or connectors can go bad. Hamilton's factory website has many manuals for these older machines (mine are also 1996, 2002 vintage) and your correct harness can be found there. If yours has two large hoppers and 1 validator, the harness for that one is about $100 directly from Hamilton. 2) The controller which is mounted on the side has 1 long hex screw in the middle that holds it on. Just unscrew it and the controller lifts up and comes off. It is a very good idea to swap it out and test it as they also go bad. I had mine exchanged for a rebuilt one with a 1 year warranty from billchangers.com (Suncoast Changer Service) here in FL (at a fraction of the cost of a new one). Scott is a tremendously knowledgeable guy when it comes to these units. 3) If you need repairs, two good places are billchangers.com and also a good repair station is changemakerstore.com in West Palm Beach, FL. I use Scott at Suncoast as I can drive there in an emergency in less than a day. Just a personal opinion: I switched all 3 of my machines to Mars validatiors (and sold all 3 of my XE Validators on e
