Mar/134 HP ToolboxFX Error on Startup 4 Comments · Posted by admin in Tech I've run into this problem a couple of times in the past 2 years and it takes me too long http://levinecentral.com/davidsblog2/2013/03/hp-toolboxfx-error-on-startup/ to find the resolution, so I'm posting it here. HP ToolboxFX is a system tray program for some HP printers. From time to time, a system change causes the program to fail on reboot and you receive http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/444508/i-am-seriously-infected-and-need-help/ an alert message (see picture below)  stating "HP ToolboxFX has encountered an error and can not recover." Once the error is displayed, I can't print anything. It's likely do to some change in IP or USB filter failed port numbers, but here is the quick fix: Go to the following directory  C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\ToolboxFX\Settings Under this directory delete all the files in Settings folder With the printer connected and on, reboot the PC No tags 4 comments Melissa · September 13, 2013 at 8:57 am Thank you so much! I have been having this problem at work and we had uninstalled everything and could not get this uninstalled and to go away! Now cups filter failed it is gone! Wessam Ali · April 17, 2014 at 8:05 am Thank you very much for your tutorial. Problem solved Ron Davis · June 16, 2014 at 4:29 pm I found that this "fix" worked once but then returned. It has been stated that ToolboxFX is not valid for Windows 7 anyway. The fix I finally found was to delete every reference to ToolboxFX, both on the C-drive and the registry. There are dozens of references to it in the registry so it takes some time to delete them all, but it does no harm to the registry so long as you are careful. If anyone does not know how to reference the registry, click on "Start" and type in "regedit" (without the quote marks). magda · March 28, 2016 at 12:18 pm Spot on! Thanks for sharing.
