Unable to install" In attempts to install "fexplorer" or other apps on my vodafone jpn branded 6680 each time I try I get the following error message "Installation security error. Unable to install" . I did > tools, app manager, software installation -changed to "on". Still unable to install apps without certificate. Even some themes from Nokia web site. Please help, does anyone know a way of preventing this that will allow all app installation? trtna2 View Public Profile Find all posts by trtna2 #2 03-10-2006, 01:33 AM bmurty Guest Posts: n/a Make sure 'online cert. check' is off bmurty #3 03-10-2006, 01:42 AM trtna2 trtna2 is offline Registered User Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 4 Did that. For some reasons, they disable unsigned applications. I don't know why they are doing it. There is a workaround with a software, but I cannot recall it (I will check it when I get home, I hope I still have the email). Basically the idea is to extract the contents of .sis file to a PC and then transfer all files to the memory card via USB memory card reader. __________________ Antony Pranata Visit S60Tips.com for tips, tricks and tutorials of using S60 phones. antonypranata View P

What phone are you using? Are you transferring the jad or the jar? If you are sending the jar, try sending the jad instead (and in some cases you'll only succeed if you use an absolute value for the 'MIDlet-Jar-URL' attribute. Vassili Vladimir Ranch Hand Posts: 1585 posted 9 years ago Hi, I'm sending from the cable (or bluetooth) and my phone is Nokia 6630 and I'm sending the JAR not the JAD file. I will try to send the JAD only and reply you but can you please tell me how to use the MIDlet-Jar-URL attribute ? Thanks in advance ... Vassili ... SCJP 5.0, SCWCD 1.4, SCJA 1.0 James Hodgkiss Ranch Hand Posts: 401 posted 9 years ago On some phones, installation will not work from the jar - only from the jad. The MIDlet-Jar-URL attribute in the jad tells the phone where to retrieve the jar from. If you're retrieving the app from a server, you should set the MIDlet-Jar-URL to 'http://wwwhatever.../yourApp.jar' - but seeing as you're sending it locally, you're best leaving the MIDlet-Jar-URL as 'yourApp.jar'. If you have no luck sending the app over cable/bluetooth, stick the jad an jar on the internet somewhere and go that the url on your phone's browser (remember to set the jad's MIDlet-Jar-URL to 'http://wwwhatever.../yourApp.jar' tho...). Cheers, James James Hodgkiss Ranch Hand Posts: 401 posted 9 years ago By the way, in Netbeans, if you right click on your project node and click on properties you will find where to change the midlet attributes and other stuff...
