I used this site as a reference to fix that problem http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/windows-xp/15653-device-manager-blank.htmlI then was able to install the NC client on the machine.It turns out that (i think it was a windows security update that did it) the permissions to a folder in the registry were removed.
