Indesign Print Booklet Double Sided

on Sep 5, 2013 9:15 AM by Peter Spier Error when printing booklet bb.noble Sep 5, 2012 8:02 PM When trying to print booklet from cs6 InDesign the error reads: The active document uses multiple indesign print booklet to pdf page sizes. Print booklet works only with documents that use a consistent page size. I have went into document setup, the icon at the bottom of the pages menu box that allows you to edit page size, even tried changing the master page sizes and applying the master to all pages. None of this is removing the error message when trying to print booklet. If possible please help me. 50988Views Tags: print booklet indesign none (add) errorContent tagged with error, indesignContent tagged with indesign, printingContent tagged with printing, cs6Content tagged with cs6 This content has been marked as final. To fix, say in a 32 page booklet:I'd print pages 1-16 in the bookletIf the error still occurs I'd try printing 1-8Then 1-4 etc. until I narrow the page number down to what page is causing the error. It could be that pages 1-16 are fine. So I'd try printing 17-32, then 17-24 etc. until I narrow down the page causing the error. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Error when printing booklet Peter Spier Sep 6, 2012 5:18 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson) Actually, we had another case of this last week, and both the creator of the file and I confirmed that all pages were in fact the same. The only way I found to fix the file was to go spread by spread and copy the content, then paste in place in a new file. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Error when printing

Printing Alternate Layouts with Print Booklet(Workaround!) 2013/05/10 Leave a comment Go to comments I recently found out that Alternate Layouts and Print Booklet does not play well together. This is what happens when you try to use Print Booklet https://tinytutorials.wordpress.com/2013/05/10/indesign-cs6-printing-alternate-layouts-with-print-booklet-workaround/ with Alternate Layouts:Print Booklet will impose the pages together as if it is one big long layout, mixing your different orientation/sized pages. This is kind of expected, since Alternate Layouts are just page sections http://indesignsecrets.com/when-the-document-size-wont-change.php in disguise. So, how to get Print Booklet to work? Well, deleting the alternate layout seems to let Print Booklet print the first layout, so that's all well and good, but when you delete the print booklet first layout to print the second layout, we get a different problem: "The active document Uses multiple page sizes. Print Booklet works only with documents that use a consistent Page size.So it'll print the original, but not the alternate layout. I've tried setting the page size from File > Document Setup, Edit Page size from the Page Panel, The Page Tool, Delete Master Pages that are the wrong orientation, indesign print booklet Checked Master Page Overlay… and can't get it to work consistently….So what to do?!   In a last ditch attempt to get this to work consistently, I decided to place the alternate layout into a new InDesign Document (of the same dimension), and then use Print Booklet with the new layout. It's not an elegant solution, but it's quick and dirty and doesn't take that much time if you set up your document right and the layout isn't long).Problem Solved!

Alternatively, you can use the Booklet Printing function in Acrobat, but I wanted to find a solution in InDesign. Share this:ShareGoogleFacebookLinkedInRedditTumblrTwitterLike this:Like Loading... Mailbag AnswersTroubleshooting When the Document Size Won't Change David Blatner January 10, 2012 Tweet 13 CommentsShare This Tweet This Article Share on Facebook Email This Article Share on Google+ Pin This Article L.S. wrote: I tried to change the size of a document today, but only the pasteboard would change. Whatever I tried, the document size remained the same, even though the Document Setup size disagreed. This stumped me for a moment, but then I realized what was probably happening. To understand, think about text formatting: Imagine that you have applyed a paragraph style to some text. If you select the text and change its font, you have applied a local override to the text. In other words, if you change the paragraph style definition, that selected text may not update to reflect that change because the local override is "on top" of the style. In InDesign, the page size is sort of like a style. When you first create a document, the values (page size, etc.) in the New Document dialog box define the "default" size of that document. But in CS5 and later you can override those values, changing a document or master page size using the Page tool. If you click on a page with the Page tool and change its size -- even just a tiny bit -- it will stay that size, even if you using File > Document Setup to change the underlying document size. The only way to remove the "local page size override" is to click on the page with the Page tool, then use the Control panel (or Pages panel) to change the size of the page to match the document size again. Once it matches, InDesign forgets about the override and the page will follow the document setup dialog box again.
