How Do I Repair A Stop c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The Registry Cannot Load Hive (File): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\Software Error The system is a Dell Demension C521, AMD 64 Athlon processor, with Window Media Center. It's about 5 years old. This error has been reported before, I've researched the three answers provided, but unfortunately, the computer will not recognize the XP operating system disk ('Welcome to Setup') which would allow me to select R to Restore to a previous point. The computer will only return to the error code. Upon start-up, I can access the menus at F2, F8 and F12 without any problems. Regardless of which menu I enter, no matter which function I select there after, the computer always returns to the Registry File Failure. I even tried to overwrite the hard drive to rebuild the operating system and it would not allow me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
